Welcome to the Winona Ice Climbing Festival page!
The Winona Ice Fest is a collaborative event between the City of Winona, the Recreation Alliance of Winona, and Big River Climbing Guides. We are so excited to host our second annual ice festival and can’t wait to celebrate the Winona Ice Park and ice climbing with a bunch of friends new and old! We are thankful to everyone who supported our first year and look to see more smiling faces this coming year!

Ice Fest Climbing Clinics
Looking to try ice climbing in a supportive environment or expand on technical or movement skills? Take a Winona Ice Fest Clinic Friday or Saturday. All equipment is included! To register for a clinic use the link below!
Ice Fest FAQs
Where do I check in for a clinic?
Ice fest clinic check in is at the vendor village/ Ice park parking lot. Look for the clinic check in sign and volunteers will help you get started!
Where do I pick up my ice fest registration packet and WIF merchandise I ordered online?
The registration station will be located at Two Fathoms Brewery in Downtown Winona. You can pick up your packet Thursday 12pm-Close & Friday/Saturday 9am-Close. You do not need to check in at the registration station before a clinic.
How does the free transit work on Friday & Saturday?
Another benefit of registering for the ice fest is the option to leave your car at home and ride free in-town transit. The ice fest transit bus will run in a countinous loop Friday and Saturday from 8am-6pm. Pick-up/drop off locations include: Downtown( corner of 3rd and center), Ice Park trailhead, The Plaza Hotel, and the Riverport Inn.

Thursday Jan. 30th
Intro to Climbing Clinics for Winona Residents
9am-12:30pm & 1pm-4:30pm
(free with ice fest registration)
Ice Park Climbing and Dance Party 6pm-9pm
Grab some friends and hike up to the ice park for climbing on lit up ice falls with DJ Bos’n bringing the sounds while getting psyched for teh weekend. Climbing and dancing under the lights! What better way to start the weekend! (no demo equipment available for this event)
Friday Jan. 31st
Climbing Clinics all day 9am-3:30pm
Clinics topics will include: Intro to ice climbing, leading ice, steep ice, top managed systems and anchoring principles, family intro to ice climbing, and more!
Equipment Demos all day at Vendor Village
All registered guests receive 3 demo cards for the weekend to check out equipment from our festival sponsors. All equipment must be returned to the vendor village by 4:30pm. Demos cards an be used both Friday and Saturday. All equipment is on a first come , first served basis and are available beginning at 9am each day.
Apres’ Ice Climbing Social at river City Grill 3pm-6pm
Drink and food specials( Bogo drinks and Pizza Buffet!)
Live Chainsaw Ice Carving Demo by Nick Lensing
Grab a beverage and a few slices and watch the master at work!
Ice Climbing Film Set at Winona County History Center
